What is 8aweek?
8aweek is a Firefox toolbar that helps you use the web better. And by "better" we mean faster, more efficiently and with less distractions.
Why would I want 8aweek?
We recognize that many people wish to be more productive, yet with all the distracting websites available at your fingertips, it's easy to lose track of your time online. 8aweek helps you reclaim that lost time and boost your productivity.
Where did the name come from?
The average employee wastes over 8 hours per week, mostly on the Internet. 8aweek helps you reclaim those 8 hours. Clever, huh?
How does it work?
The first step is discovering where your time actually goes. After installing the toolbar, you'll immediately be able to view graphs of your browsing habits. If you notice you spend way too long on some site, add it to your restricted list to let 8aweek limit your time spent on those sites.
How exactly can I limit those distracting sites?
You can start by setting a timer that counts down the time you spend on your restricted sites. For example, give yourself 30 minutes on those sites per day, then monitor your progress on the toolbar. When time is up, you'll get a reminder.
What if I need more "discipline"?
If you're like us, sometimes you really need to put your foot down. Switch to block mode and 8aweek will completely prevent access to those sites. However you do get a few "snoozes", or cheats, per day; use them wisely!
What else can 8aweek do?
Great question. Suppose you come across a cool link but you don't want to be distracted by it at the moment. 8aweek will save it so you can read it later when you have more time.
What about my privacy?
Your browsing stats are sent periodically to our server so you can save and view them. Your privacy is of top importance to us. If you ever want to stop tracking your browsing habits, even for a few minutes, just click "disable logging" at any time. You can also purge any sites you don't want to see on the graphs.
